11th Grade Catalina Island Grade Trip 2025~
1 week ago, I had a chance to visit the CIMI Sea Camp on Catalina Island. During the time staying there, our grade had really made new friends, come closer and understand each other more through many activities, for instance, kayaking, snorkeling, and science projects. The reason this is really memorable for me because we did not have any electronic devices to contact or update social media or any related devices for the whole 5 days living here.
I will be posting 5 different posts that record what I feel is extremely memorable: Kayaking, sunrise hiking, snorkeling, astronomy hiking, and New Friends
This is the vlog about kayaking! Which is the most fun activity that I have had during the trip
On the third day of the trip, the instructor announced that we would have a kayak, where we students would pair up; choose the right shoes, a life jacket, and the correct height of paddle, and start the competition on the sea to fight for the ball on the sea!
The fun part started right away when we stepped on the beach and got the instructor to push us down to the beach. However, to get down, it is not as simple as the instructor will push down in order, but it is where the pair that shouts out the loudest and has the most energy gets to push! So it was so much fun that my partner and I kept shouting out every time, nonstop, to get a push. This technique had really sparked my competitive mode up, and I read for later. We shouted until my throat hurt, and finally got pushed down
After getting pushed down, we were told to gather up in line, as boat riders are putting their hand on others’ kayaks to keep us together! It was so fun to count 1 – 2 to suggest which side we should propel (my partner and I) and then…just in a few minutes, 3 balls were thrown into the sea. The 2 teams, Red – Green, are now fighting for the ball on the sea.
My partner and was the first time know each other in the trip; however, kayaking get us closer together because we got to talk more, and the really dynamic left and right paddles were really dynamic. We were the first ones to get the ball for our green team! Knowing how to adapt, be flexible, and make new good relationships is always a plus and an advantage for people—I learned after this activity.
